Hive Open Mic 63: “Storyteller” | Canon From Pachelbel (For Three Violins and Cello)

Ya Hive Open Mic va por su semana 63 y me emociona ser parte de esta comunidad y su iniciativa semanal, siempre espero con ansias cada domingo para conocer el nuevo tema de la semana.

En esta oportunidad le tocó el honor a @celticheartbeat de elegir el tema y a buena hora, me pareció super peculiar que eligiese "Storyteller" o en español cuentacuentos, inmediatamente al leer esta palabra me transporte a la infancia y como historias fantásticas nos transportan del plano real a mundos inimaginables.

En esta oportunidad decidí traerles el Canon en D Mayor del compositor barroco Johann Pachelbel, compositor de descendencia Alemana según cuentan formó parte de la generación anterior a Johann Sebastian Bach de quien luego se volvería un buen amigo.

Hive Open Mic is now in its 63rd week and I'm thrilled to be part of this community and its weekly initiative, I always look forward to every Sunday to find out the new theme of the week.

This time it was the honour of @celticheartbeat to choose the theme and in good time, I found it very peculiar that he chose "Storyteller", immediately when I read this word I was transported to childhood and how fantastic stories transport us from the real plane to unimaginable worlds.

This time I decided to bring you the Canon in D Major by the baroque composer Johann Pachelbel, a composer of German descent who, according to legend, was part of the generation before Johann Sebastian Bach, of whom he would later become a good friend.

El Canon ◽️◽️◽️ The Canon

Para no hacer esto una larga clase de teoría musical les comentaré de la manera más coloquial posible de que trata un canon en la música. Es una pieza musical basada en la imitación, se trata de una melodía que es interpretada por una voz o instrumento y esta misma melodía es repetida por un segundo instrumento, en el caso del video que les muestro; es un canon para tres violines y continuo que es la voz del violocello.

En contrapunto no es otra cosa que nota contra nota imitando la segunda voz a la primera y la tercera a la segunda, en lo que respecta el canon en Re Mayor de Pachelbel. El violoncello repite durante toda la pieza dos compases que representan las ocho notas base y en esta oportunidad he decidido agregarle unos pizzicatos para hacerlo más pintoresco y combinan a la perfección con la temática.

Como podrán notar en el video, comienzo tocando el violoncello y progresivamente voy apareciendo con cada una de las tres voces con el violín. En este caso no grabé los pizzicatos para no saturar a Filmora de información, mi GPU me lo agradece.

Toda la música está libre de derechos de autor así que todo el contenido en esta publicación me pertenece por ser una interpretación propia de la obra, desde los pizzicatos hasta el tercer violín que suena.

In order not to make this a long lecture on music theory, I will tell you in the most colloquial way possible what a canon in music is all about. It is a piece of music based on imitation, it is a melody that is interpreted by a voice or instrument and this same melody is repeated by a second instrument, in the case of the video I am showing you; it is a canon for three violins and continuo which is the voice of the violocello.

In counterpoint it is nothing more than note against note imitating the second voice to the first and the third to the second, as far as Pachelbel's canon in D major is concerned. The cello repeats during the whole piece two measures that represent the eight base notes and in this opportunity I have decided to add some pizzicatos to make it more picturesque and they combine perfectly with the theme.

As you can see in the video, I start playing the cello and progressively I appear with each of the three voices with the violin. In this case I didn't record the pizzicatos so as not to saturate Filmora with information, my GPU thanks me.

All the music is copyright free so all the content in this publication belongs to me as it is my own interpretation of the work, from the pizzicatos to the third violin that plays.

REAPER

Reaper se ha convertido en mi mezclador principal y aunque sigo descubriendo sus funciones y el modo de usarlas, me parece una herramienta estupenda así que la recomiendo con los ojos cerrados además de que podemos usar la versión gratuita de por vida y si no es una producción de estudio pues está bastante bien, por lo menos para mí que soy un novato en este tema.

Reaper has become my main mixer and although I'm still discovering its functions and how to use them, I think it's a great tool so I recommend it with my eyes closed, plus we can use the free version for life and if it's not a studio production it's pretty good, at least for me who am a novice in this subject.

FILMORA X

Y continuando con las largas horas de edición no me puede faltar mi editor favorito hasta el momento "Filmora X", la verdad que cada día me sorprende lo versátil que es además de que posee infinidad de opciones para hacer cada contenido único, para este video decidí hacer pantalla dividida y ponerle algunos efectos que a mi gusto son algo femeninos pero me pareció acorde a la temática, evoca fantasía y largas horas de historias divertidas que nos llevan a volar por mundos imaginarios.

Filmora requiere de un buen Hardware para funcionar correctamente, mis recursos computacionales actualmente están al límite y ello implica que debo pasar mucho tiempo renderizando y convirtiendo mi proyecto en el video que al final les presento. Siempre que puedan invertir en un mejor equipo o por lo menos que tenga suficiente RAM (recomendable 8) y una GPU o tarjeta de video que responda rápido a nuestros requerimientos, estaría estupendo.

And continuing with the long hours of editing I can not miss my favorite editor so far "Filmora X", the truth that every day surprises me how versatile it is in addition to having plenty of options to make each unique content, for this video I decided to make split screen and put some effects that to my taste are somewhat feminine but I thought it was in keeping with the theme, evokes fantasy and long hours of fun stories that lead us to fly through imaginary worlds.

Filmora requires a good hardware to work properly, my computational resources are currently at the limit and this means that I have to spend a lot of time rendering and converting my project into the video that I present to you at the end. As long as you can invest in a better computer or at least one that has enough RAM (8 recommended) and a GPU or video card that responds quickly to our requirements, it would be great.
