    Hey Folks

Stories of the night eh? What an interesting theme for this Halloween season.

I dont know any Halloween songs unfortunetly but I do have one or 2 that are a bit darker in nature.

In my video this week I wanted to try singing 2 songs which I have wanted to sign for a while.

The first one is called Birmingham Mill. It tells the story of a young girl heading of to work in a mill which catches fire causing many of the young female workers to die in the blaze.
Its a song that starts out with a catchy upbeat melody and intriguing story but mid way through takes a darker turn.

The second song is from Game Of Thrones Season 8 .Its called Jenny Of Old Stones and has the theme of a lost girl dancing with ghosts.

    "The Birmingham Mill"

One fair girl with fine yellow hair
Wild flower of the west country
Left one night for a stormy ride
On a winding road to the east

One fair girl at the Birmingham Mill
For a dollar and a half times three
See the spinning wheels turn, she is young but she'll learn
With her slender white hands to weave

Twelve smoke stacks in a row row row
And a girl of five times three
See the mill boss patrol, hear the factory bells toll
And the girls look as sad as can be
And she cried for her home country

One little spark set a light to a flame
And the fire climbed through to the east
And the roof it crashed and the girls all dashed
And they all cried "oh god please"
And she crawled on her hands and her knees

At the Birmingham Mill where the wild flowers grow
Round the grave of those girls so fair
See the lilly bells bloom round thier cold marble tombs
And they come in the spring of the year

One fair girl with fine yellow hair
Wild flower of the west country
May she rest well amoungst the wold lilly bells
In her cold marble tomb in the east.

At the Birmingham Mill where the wild flowers grow
Round the grave of those girls so fair
See the lilly bells bloom round thier cold marble tombs
And they come in the spring of the year

    "Jenny of Old Stones"

High in the halls of the kings who are gone
Jenny would dance with her ghosts
The ones she had lost and the ones she had found
And the ones who had loved her the most

The ones who'd been gone for so very long
    She couldn't remember their names
They spun her around on the damp old stone
Spun away all her sorrow and pain

And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave

High in the halls of the kings who are gone
Jenny would dance with her ghosts
The ones she had lost and the ones she had found
And the ones who had loved her the most
