Hey Foodies
Today I'm going to show you how to make a traditional Scottish winter meal we call "Stovies"
This is a pretty simple dish to make ,all we need are a few potatoes, a couple of onions some corned beef and gravy granules.
First of we need to clean and cut the potatoes.
Add the potatoes to a pot of water and boil them until their soft. I ended up with way more potatoes than 1 pot could hold so I used 2 pots.
Stovies are a very popular meal in my house especially at this time of year so everything I cook is definitely going to get eaten. I might as well make extra.
Next we are going to chop up these 2 onions.
I'm going to cook the onions with some garlic for extra flavour
Add the chopped garlic to some oil in the frying pan.
NextThen we add our onions to the frying pan. Were going to let these get nice and soft while we prepare our corned beef and onion gravy.
Add 3 tablespoons of gravy granules to 1/2 a pint of water and boil until its nice a thick.
Ah the sights and smells of a traditional Scottish meal cooking. The smell of the garlic and onions is making me hungry.
When the gravy has thickened up its time to add the corned beef.
Mix the gravy and corned beef together.
Now its time to add everything together, first the onions go in beside the potatoes.
Then we pour in our corned beef gravy...
I decided to make a gif of our lovely corned beef and onion gravy being poured into the pot :)...
Hubble bubble....our stovies bubble away nicely, a quick stir to break up the potatoes and its ready to serve.
All that is left to do is add some salt and pepper and there you go, a delicious bowl of Traditional Scottish "Stovies"
