In mammals, the morphology of teeth and their function is linked to diet. As an introduction I compare the mandibular bodies of several species and more specifically I compare the teeth of three species of phyllostomid bats that follow a frugivorous, insectivorous and omnivorous diet. I conclude by commenting on mandible movement in mammals.
