Hectic last weekend, rented a Luton Van with tail lift from Nationwide rentals - actually very good - a little more expensive but they BRING THE VAN TO YOUR HOUSE and then collect it when done! Sweet. Being white van man for the weekend was actually OK - on a 19 plate this was a tidy motor, you don't need to do 50 press ups a day to turn the wheel - it drives like a car - in fact a little too like a car it's easy to forget you need to swing wide on those bends to avoid bouncing the back end of the curbs. 200 miles over the rental was a breeze, it came with a full tank and had to be picked up with one - now that was a problem. Stopped outside the Petrol Station to locate the filler cap - walked round - none to be seen! Checked the manuals - no help there. Started checking inside the doors - driver side no dice, passenger side - noticed a body colour flap visible when the passenger door is open - pulled that and there you go diesel fill pipe!

Next quandry van height is 10'3, Petrol Station max height is 10'3 - it must fit because vans need to be filled up with fuel - but I didn't want to give them back a convertible - so I slowly edged next to a pump - then opened the window and shouted out to someone filling their car on the opposite pump if he could check to see I had enough clearance. He laughed and said I'd got a good foot spare, I said I'd rented it and he agreed it's a worry when you have something so high you are not used to. Overall a good rental experience - the lugging stuff around all weeked was exhausting though!
