Wet wet wet, it’s been a week of wind and rain - although we are avoiding most of the flooding some areas of the UK have faced. Last weekend was pretty steady, a trip to Castleford on the Saturday for a roaster repair which went well, followed by a relatively sunny afternoon. Sunday was less warm, and by Monday the rain was back with a vengeance.
Coffee sales have picked up with the cooler weather, and it has been a busy week for roasting and packing coffee - especially getting stocks built in the new branded boxes. Local deliveries are picking up again, after spending March 2020 to March 2021 mainly just holed up in the Warehouse shipping out goods with carrier, now most days involve a trip around Halifax or nearby to drop off supplies to our local customers. And now those deliveries are made by Hybrid SUV it’s better for the environment too, with the town centre deliveries always running on electric rather then adding to urban pollution.
Getting home from work however has been a trial, with both my main routes currently undergoing road works massive queues build up making the stump cross to shelf trip half an hour longer, and Queensbury also has road works that make for long periods of slow moving traffic. I ended up trying to head out to Keithley and then cut back, but that is a considerable extra distance even if you are always moving along it. The back road behind Shibden park proved better fare, while again taking me away from the ultimate destination it missed the traffic blockage and a quick run up from Hipperholme lights to Shelf made it the best option so far.
