Who doesn't know this song, who doesn't get caught by its mysticism and its magical and tragic story...? On the day of the song I will sing it to you so that many of you will be transported to another era and even remember your childhood!

"Hijo de la Luna" 🌙is a song by the Spanish techno-pop group Mecano, composed and produced by José María Cano. It was released in 1986 and officially released on July 25, 1987. It was the fifth and last single from the album Entre el cielo y el suelo. According to the song, it tells the tragic story of a gypsy woman, who fell in love with a gypsy belonging to the Calé ethnic group. Both could not get married, because the laws of each gypsy village only allowed the marriage of the same tribe. In her sadness, the gypsy woman prays and invokes the moon, asking the Calé to become her husband. The Moon in her full moon phase, speaks to her and proposes a deal, she will be able to marry him for the love she felt, in exchange for giving him her first son as an offering or sacrifice. Although the moon, during the deal with the gypsy, puts her to the test, for she reasons that if she is capable of giving up her own son she would in fact be incapable of loving him.

The two gypsies get married and as a result of this marriage the child is born, his parents are surprised because the child was not born with the same racial features of his parents but albino. According to the lyrics of the song, the child was born "white as the back of an ermine and with gray eyes instead of olive, albino child of the moon", despite the fact that his parents were dark-skinned and dark-eyed. The gypsy, father of the child does not accept that he is his son, denies the paternity and confronts his wife accusing her of having been unfaithful with a payo (not gypsy) after which he stabs her and leaves her to die; later he takes the child in his arms and takes him to the mountain where he abandons him so that he also dies.
