There are some things that just shouldn't be forced, especially when it comes to change in people. Better still, we should understand that forcing people to change don't always end well "most" times....at the end of the day it either the person begins to pretend to be changed or just maybe regret that decision later.
Like a saying goes, you can force a horse to the river but you can't force it to drink water. That is an apt explanation on it. Any change that should take place should come willingly from the concerned individuals, whether or not you are telling them the right thing. You are entitled to your opinion and so are they....so give them a choice.
The best thing to do is guide, advice, or give them the necessary tools to understand why that change is needed. We can't always force people to change, they need to be willing. It's just like a woman going into a relationship with a flirt of a man blinded by love, with the mindset that she can change him.
Now, I am not ruling out any possibility of him changing but I am saying that, except he wants to change....he would "most likely" never change. But, if he changes his character it would be because he chose to, not because you enforced it.
