VARENIKI
It is a very versatile option that is loved as a meal almost in all corners of Ukraine. It is sometimes boiled up to ready, or even steam cooked in some places.
Vareniki is basically a soft ball of wheat wrapping a ball of potato, It has plenty variations including mushrooms and meat, too.
I must tell you, it took me some time to grow the taste buds for these things. After all, growing on a diet full of spices and flavors really doesn't put you in a position to appreciate simplicity.
The ingredients are very simple. Vareniki, water, oil, salt and pepper.
