    Hi there,

Greetings to all my fellow musicians and music lovers in general. We are back at the #openmic for it's 137th week. This week's topic is "Healing". I think this resonates deeply with this time of the year. If there's something we patiently await in the rest of the country, is the first time gaitas are played on the radio. This is a music genre from Zulia State (on the west of Venezuela). Even though, there these songs are on throughout the whole year, we only listen to them during the last months in the rest of the country.

This holds a particular relevance to me. Since when this music is played, the rest of the festive seasonal music cones along parrandas, aguinaldos and carols. I love this type of music. So for me, it's the best time to be a musician.

Today, I bring you a hit from the 80s by Gran Coquivacoa (one of the most famous gaita groups in the country), a song that was mater popularized by "Neguito" Borjas (a famous gaita). I'm talking about a songs which lyrics you can't forget since they are all sounds (onomatopoeias). It's the "Gaita Onomatopeyica".

If you don't feel how this music heals you with its rhythm, my friend, you need professional help. While you look for it, I'll keep having my mood cleansed by the sound of cuatros and drums.

I hope you like my performance and that this gaita brings you the energy and joy needed to start the week with the right foot!
