Buen día mis colegas músicos y amantes de la música en general. Vuelvo al escenario de #openmic para compartirles este arreglo de una de la Gaitas Zulianas más emblemáticas que existen en ese género. Me refiero a "Aquel Zuliano", compuesta por Renato Aguirre. Esta Gaita es un homenaje a su hermano Ricardo Aguirre, mejor conocido como "El Monumental de la Gaita".

En su letra se cuenta una experiencia mística que tuvo Renato cuando su hermano pasó a otro plano de la existencia. Es una de mis faltas favoritas y desde que empecé mis clases de cuatro solista había querido aprender este tema. Me tomó hasta ahora dada la complejidad armónica del mismo. Así que luego de horas de estudio y muchos intentos de grabación, aquí la tienen.

Hi there, fellow musicians and music lovers in general. I'm back at the stage of #openmic to share this cover of an iconic Gaita Zuliana, this is genre from Zulia State in the west of Venezuela. It's called "Aquel Zuliano". It was composed by Renato Aguirre as an homage to his brother Ricardo Aguirre. Ricardo is known in Zulia as "El Monumental de la Gaita" (you could say he was the Elvis of genre).

In the song's lyrics there's the retelling of a mystical episode experienced by Renato when his brother died. It's one of my favorite songs of this genre of music. It also one of the songs I was must excited to learnt when I started my classes of Soloist Venezuelan Cuatro. However, it took me a while to finally learn it since it's a very complex song. But, alas, hours of study and recording attempts where totally worth it!
