Hello dear friends of Gods Unchained, are you all right? I hope so.

In today's post I want to share with you more information about an amazing legendary creature from Aeona, Goddess of Nature, the powerful Gersemi, Freyja's Spear.

I will bring more information and my opinion about the card, its potential, its abilities and what my strategy is in game, including a gameplay that demonstrates well a battle in which I got total success with the strategy.

    And here we go.

Gersemi is one of the cards in my not-so-large collection of legendary cards, but very much liked by me, that I often use in my decks.

First of all let's look at Gersemi, Freyja's Spear:

    image.png

Gersemi has a cost of 3 mana to enter the battlefield and has 4 attack points and 2 health points, so, as you can see, it is not a creature whose strength and life status are its great differential.

It has the ability Roar and the ability Afterlife with the same effect, such as giving +1 regeneration to all friendly creatures on the battlefield.

These skills, at first, do not prove to be of great value or even of high offensive power, however, if well used at the right time can mean the difference between victory and defeat on the battlefield.

My strategy for using Gersemi is to include it on the battlefield at the moment when there are as many friendly cards as possible, but this is not always possible.

In the vast majority of cases, when Gersemi enters the battlefield the mana cost to summon it prevents other creatures from being summoned first and benefiting from the effect of its roar ability.

However, even if it is not possible to summon creatures and Gersemi on the same turn, it is possible to do so on the next turn, and the new creatures will benefit from the effect of the afterlife ability, no longer the roar, when Gersemi is defeated.

At this point it is interesting to note that my core game strategy, and not only with the Aeona - Goddess of Nature - deck, is focused on creatures with frontline ability, I believe this is not a pro-player strategy, but it gives me the security of the game, protecting my God and my weaker creatures, as well as allowing the adoption of some combos.

Therefore, before adding Gersemi to the battlefield, I always try to have a creature with frontline on the battlefield, this will make it difficult, but not impossible, for him to be defeated on the next turn, making it impossible to fully benefit from his abilities.

This way, when I already have a creature with frontline on the battlefield I try to "calculate" the possible attack damage of my opponent on the next turn, being impossible to measure with total security since there are many spells and creatures with direct damage on the summoning turn, and then I summon Gersemi when there isn't much chance of being defeated on the next turn.

With this tactic the creatures that were already on the battlefield, including the one with the frontline ability, will benefit from the Roar ability, and on the next turn I can summon other creatures that will benefit from the Afterlife ability, and the ones that benefit from Roar will cumulate regen.

So far so good, but an interesting insight I've had in recent battles, and which has improved the use of Gersemi, is to attack and cause it to be sacrificed at the end of the round after adding the creatures to the battlefield.

This strategy has 3 effects: i) reduce the amount of enemy creatures for the next turn that could possibly attack; ii) make it harder for the newly added creatures to the battlefield to be defeated the next turn and iii) grant the benefit of Gersemi's afterlife ability to the newly added creatures.

This will leave your opponent with a reduced amount of creatures on the battlefield and you, on the other hand, will have several creatures with +2 or +1 regeneration.

But let's leave the theory aside and see, in practice, how this strategy worked.

    image.png

As you can see in the video above I present 2 battles, these being:

    Battle 01:

Until the sixth turn the battle was very evenly balanced, with the opponent in this round having four creatures on the battlefield, one with protected, and me only one, an Overgrown Rhino.

So, although it was not the ideal scenario, I had in my hand an amazon flanker, whose roar ability is to summon 2 more amazon flankers, that is, 3 creatures for 1.

And I cast my luck by placing the gersemi on the battlefield, and my opponent then decided to attack my god with full force, and stopped attacking my creatures.

The next turn I went from 3 to 6 creatures with Amazon Flanker, with one of these being defeated on an attack from me, and I subsequently sacrificed Gersemi granting +1 regeneration to friendly creatures.

And from then on the game changed substantially, as it took only 2 turns for me to win the game and liquidate the 19 life points of the opposing God.

    Battle 02:

In this battle I got Gersemi right from the card draw and kept him in my hand.

The opponent maintained a very aggressive posture against my God, constantly attacking him with direct damage.

I put Gersemi on the battlefield on turn 4, when I had 3 other creatures on the battlefield, including a black Jaguar that already had a regeneration point.

I used this battle as an example to demonstrate how important it is to use a frontline creature in conjunction with Gersemi in this strategy, because the opponent had total focus against it and defeated it on the next turn, causing the 3 creatures on the table to receive the benefits of Roar and Afterlife.

The Black Jaguar even remained with a status of 3/3/3.

And only 2 turns later the opponent simply gave up the game when his God had 17 life points, demonstrating Gersemi's strength even if the strategy worked only partially.

    image.png

Well my friends, this is the strategy that I like to adopt with Gersemi and I have been very successful with it, which has helped me to raise my ranking by increasing my win rate.

It is certain that the strategy will not work every time, nor that it will mean a sure victory, but it will certainly give you a good advantage and a great control over the battle.

I hope you enjoyed the content.

    Thanks for reading.
