Hello my dear friends of the Full Deportes community! One more day around here, I'm sharing some postures inside a short routine for Hive.
This time we will be working especially with twists and arm balances, which although it demands little strength and good alignment of the joints, it does need practice and a lot of body awareness.
This practice can be done with a minimum warm up of the body as long as previously there is already some practice of Yoga or other physical activity, because what it asks us mainly is that we have knowledge of our body, its limits and its possibilities.
It is necessary to know that anyone can also venture to practice these postures and this flow, except for those who suffer any injury or discomfort in the wrists. In this case, I recommend doing variations of the posture where the hands do not have to support the entire weight of the body.
Well, the most important thing that I consider here is that the posture cooperates to acquire a complete mastery of the body. In this way, with the conscious attempt of the assembly of the asana, what is achieved is to know the weight of the body, its point of balance, the healthy support of the hands (i.e., to listen when it is necessary to lower the balance).
And that translates into a mastery of the mind, since the focus that must be done to assemble and sustain the posture is so powerful that it allows us to discover ways to calm different fluctuations of the mind.
This pose can be one in itself or become the preparation for others. In this case we will just look at how to do this asana and especially how to make sure we are working properly to achieve balance.
First we will sit in dandasana, and then place the palms of the hands touching the floor at mid-thigh (this is the trick). The hands go neither towards the knees nor towards the hips, but towards the middle of the thigh. In this way, we bring our torso slightly forward, activate our abdominals and lift ourselves up.
The strength is mainly in the quadriceps and abdominals and the legs are extended. In Dandasana (before rising), the ankles are dorsiflexed and the toes point to the sky, and as we rise, a plantar flexion and instep stretch can be performed.
I particularly like to work with twists before doing an intense posture because it helps the body relax and become more mobile.
Then, I did some extensions to recover the balance of the spine, which as I have mentioned in other occasions, needs that once flexion is done, a counterposture in extension is performed (and vice versa).
Utpluti Dandasana is a fun posture to practice, which activates the whole body and also has a beautiful impact on our mind. If you try it, leave a comment here.
