Caminata por el Parque San Martín, Mendoza, Argentina

Hola a todos mis queridos hivers, hoy los traeré a pasear un momento por el Parque San Martín. Lo bonito de este lugar, sobre todo en las épocas de otoño y primavera, es que está tan repleto de árboles, que suele verse cada día diferente, con los colores de sus hojas, con sus flores, con su gente, que empieza, al menos ahora en Septiembre, a disfrutar más de este riquísimo espacio público.

En lo personal, las áreas naturales para caminar son mis preferidas y este lugar, aunque fue creado por una antigua gestión en el intento de hacer un “pulmón urbano”, para mí brinda un área con tanta naturaleza, que hasta a veces ni recuerdo que es artificial.

Walking through San Martin Park, Mendoza, Argentina

Hello to all my dear hivers, today I will bring you to take a walk for a moment in the San Martin Park. The beautiful thing about this place, especially in the autumn and spring seasons, is that it is so full of trees, that it usually looks different every day, with the colors of its leaves, with its flowers, with its people, who begin, at least now in September, to enjoy more of this very rich public space.

Personally, natural areas for walking are my favorite and this place, although it was created by a former administration in an attempt to make an "urban lung", for me it provides an area with so much nature, that sometimes I don't even remember that it is artificial.

Hoy comentaré un poco más sobre este parque y la importancia de él para el deporte (como también de cualquier espacio verde que se encuentre en una ciudad).

Este parque fue inicialmente idea de un ministro, que a finales del siglo XIX pensó en la necesidad de brindar a la ciudad en crecimiento un espacio de abastecimiento de oxígeno y “amortiguación” de gases contaminantes, aquel ministro se llamaba Emilio Civit (la calle principal que conduce al parque actualmente lleva su nombre), y le pidió este trabajo al arquitecto Carlos Thays (sé esta información porque estudié la carrera de Geógrafo profesional y en las asignaturas de Geografía de Mendoza y Biogeografía nos enseñaron esto y más sobre el parque).

Actualmente, la ciudad se ha expandido mucho más que por aquel entonces, y el parque, que como he mencionado, es uno de los más grandes de América Latina, sigue cumpliendo esta función de purificar la ciudad.

Today I will comment a little more about this park and the importance of it for sports (as well as any green space found in a city).

This park was initially the idea of a minister, who in the late nineteenth century thought of the need to provide the growing city with a space to supply oxygen and "buffer" polluting gases, that minister was called Emilio Civit (the main street leading to the park is now named after him), and asked the architect Carlos Thays to do this job (I know this information because I studied professional Geographer and in the subjects of Geography of Mendoza and Biogeography they taught us this and more about the park).

Today, the city has expanded much more than back then, and the park, which as I mentioned, is one of the largest in Latin America, continues to fulfill this function of purifying the city.

Aunque yo suelo transitar por senderos que me son familiares y me agradan, este espacio brinda numerosas opciones de exploración y esparcimiento. Solo que claro, hay sectores que están siempre muy concurridos y otros desolados, por lo que pueden no ser muy seguros (por este motivo también suelo ir por donde está la mayor cantidad de gente).

Caminar por el parque brinda una sensación de mucha calma, sobre todo cuando la cantidad de gente no es excesiva o casi nula, porque se puede ver cómo andan en bicicleta, caminan, corren, patinan, incluso han instalado mesas para jugar al ping pong y a las 17:00 hs dan clases en vivo de gimnasia algunos días. También se ha asignado un sector para una escuela de patín, por lo que al pasar, se ven los niños y adolescentes aprendiendo, como también varios jóvenes.

Although I usually go on trails that I am familiar with and like, this area offers numerous options for exploration and recreation. Of course, there are areas that are always very crowded and others that are desolate, so they may not be very safe (for this reason I also tend to go where the most people are).

Walking through the park gives a very calm feeling, especially when the number of people is not excessive or almost null, because you can see how they ride bicycles, walk, run, skate, they have even installed tables to play ping pong and at 17:00 hs they give live gymnastics classes some days. A sector has also been assigned for a skating school, so as you pass by, you can see children and teenagers learning, as well as several young people.
