The moon is one of the most beautiful satellites we have. Movies and Stories tell us how magical the moon is. Even though some sound like daydreams, the enchanting aura of the moon can not go unnoticed.
Some people believe talking to the warm glowing big ball is a way of communicating with someone you love who is far away from you. That is what this song is about. Looking up at the moon trying to talk to the other person who is also looking at the moon. It's a very emotional song everyone relates to because we can all connect to the feeling of looking at the moon and having wistful thoughts.
Have you ever thought about how the nights would be without the warm light of the moon?
The whole world will be cast into blind shattering darkness. You would not be able to check your next step or see whatever is right in front of you. I know this because I have experienced a 'moonless' night before.
It happened during one of my days in a Polytechnic in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State in the Western part of Nigeria. I was stuck in a mild windy storm on my way back from the library around 2 am. Exam week was nearing and I needed to brush up on my studying.
It started as a little wind but by the time I walked farther, the cloud started to darken. I held my clothes tighter as the wind rustled through them. My teeth chattered from the cold.
Suddenly, the wind blew with an alarming wave and the light of the moon immediately went out, hidden behind the dark clouds that had filled the sky. My sight turned stark black and I could not see a thing! I was so scared and almost turned back but I had already almost gotten to my hostel.
Long story cut short, I was able to surmount the courage to use my phone's flashlight to navigate my way home safely, which I am grateful to God for. My safe journey was not the only thing I was grateful for. That day, I learned to appreciate something always present, and I fail to acknowledge its value and that is THE MOON.
When I heard the theme 'moonshine.' The song that came first to my head was moonlight by Ariana grande. I immediately started rehearsing but soon I realized there were some tasks that mere mortals cannot undertake and one of them is trying to perform Ariana grande song without proper vocal lessons. So I started looking for songs that would not destroy my vocal chords and will be from my heart.
A day later, I just started absent-mindedly humming a tune of one of my favorite classics when I realized the song went with the theme of the week. I immediately got my phone and started recording.
This week I'll be singing a song titled Talking To The Moon by Bruno Mars.
I really hope you enjoy this because I enjoyed recording it. Here are the lyrics:
I know you're somewhere out there
Somewhere far away
I want you back, I want you back
My neighbors think I'm crazy
But they don't understand
You're all I had, you're all I had
At night, when the stars light up my room
I sit by myself
Talking to the moon
Trying to get to you
In hopes you're on the other side talking to me too
Or am I a fool who sits alone talking to the moon?
Oh-oh
I'm feeling like I'm famous, the talk of the town
They say I've gone mad
Yeah, I've gone mad
But they don't know what I know
'Cause when the sun goes down, someone's talking back
Yeah, they're talking back, oh
At night, when the stars light up my room
I sit by myself
Talking to the moon
Trying to get to you
In hopes you're on the other side talking to me too
Or am I a fool who sits alone talking to the moon?
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Do you ever hear me calling?
(Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah) oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
'Cause every night, I'm talking to the moon
Still trying to get to you
In hopes you're on the other side talking to me too
Or am I a fool who sits alone talking to the moon?
Oh-oh
I know you're somewhere out there
Somewhere far away
