    In the town of Chuao, between the mountains and the Caribbean Sea in Venezuela, the descendants of enslaved Africans from an old cocoa plantation celebrate the Feast of Saint John the Baptist, a festivity led mainly by women, who worship through the Mermaid chants. during June 23 and 24, in an intimate and exclusive context since not having land access has favored the conservation of traditions and environment.

    En el pueblo de Chuao, entre las montañas y el mar caribe en Venezuela, los descendientes de africanos esclavizados de una antigua plantación de cacao celebran la Fiesta a San Juan Bautista, festividad liderada principalmente por mujeres, que rinden culto a través de Cantos de sirenas durante el 23 y 24 de junio, en un contexto íntimo y exclusivo ya que el no tener acceso terrestre ha favorecido la conservación de tradiciones y ambiente.
