I'm not even ready to start thinking of winning this tournament, or even finish in the top 10 of the standings any Friday, not today and not on any Friday of 2023 or even 2024.
I began playing chess when I was 12, pretty late in terms of Chess, by that age kids are already grandmasters and by 15 they are already winning tournaments.
I won one when I was like 13 but that was it, I stopped playing chess from 13-14 to 32 years of age. I played every once in a while but nothing serious and definitely nothing constant, until last year.
This Hive chess tournament used to have only strong players that completely obliterated me every time we played but, as of today, I realized that the intermediate quorum of players is here now and there is finally a section - at least when talking about the level of the players, not a real separate section - for players my level.
I could say I obliterated my section, from players from 1200 to 1500 but I lost one of my games because I wasn't even aware there was time increment and I blundered because I thought I only had 4 seconds in total instead of one second per move. Otherwise I would've ended with 5 wins and 3 losses - plus another win against my long time enemy @rodrook, a hiver that I've played 17 times in total and we were 50/50 in wins and losses until today.
Anyway, there is a chess league every friday, if you play chess and you have a 1000 ELO level, you might be interested in playing, you will learn a lot here.
In the meantime, watch me finally get a winning result on this tournament (I usually finish with a negative record these tournaments).
Oh and by the way, this tournament has a sponsorship of 500 LEO made by @leofinance and you can still win a share of this prize pool, consider joining next week!
