A few days ago I was invited to visit a waterfall in Norway. I was really very excited, first because the winter in principle was very hard and I lasted many days of the week without going out, just working and studying at home; and second because Norway is very famous for its waterfalls.
The plan was to go to a waterfall called Dusanfossen, near Lake Bolkesjø, on Highway 37 between Gransherad and Jondalen in the Telemark region. We left Skien and drove for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. The drive is wonderful, endless pine forests, frozen lakes, and some groups of people opening holes in the frozen lakes to fish.
I want you to know that to get here there is no sign that indicates the existence of a waterfall, we arrived perfect thanks to the coordinates of the Internet map, and because we assumed that the piece of snow without trees was where to park.
Located from the middle of Highway 37, we arrived at a type of "parking" but snow (laughing emoji), here we left the car and walked along a path at least 50 minutes.
This day it occurred to me to dress in light clothes because since we were going to walk on a mountain, I did not want to wear too many clothes to be able to walk fast and not stay behind, you can imagine how the body felt with the pile of snow, as we were moving away from the car I was sinking more and more.
It is very beautiful the whole landscape with snow wrapping the trees, you do not hear any kind of noise, I was attentive all the way to see some deer, rabbit or a wolf, but I only saw some birds, and some cabins that seemed abandoned for those days.
The walking distance was approximately 1 kilometer but with so much snow I felt that it was like 5 kilometers, I literally ran on some routes because my boyfriend is very used to walking with snow and I felt very tired, without oxygen, frozen and with instability in my knees. I ate like 6 pacifiers to stay "active".
We arrived at the waterfall from the trail chasing the sounds of the water, because where it marked the point of the map, where you saw, everything was snow. We went down from the trail to what was the wonderful waterfall, I was fascinated with all the adventure and with the beautiful place, Jan (my boyfriend) for his part, was disappointed as a host, because the waterfall for being winter, was totally frozen and only towards a small well with a mini waterfall.
I need you to see this photo I found on the Internet of the waterfall
A MARVEL IN THE PHOTO! And although Jan was disappointed, and recorded meme videos to laugh with his friends, I was totally grateful for living this experience. Frozen and with shoes full of snowballs but very happy.
It is an experience that I would love to share with everyone, and that if they have the opportunity, they enjoy a lot.
I leave here a short video of our adventure.
An important fact is that Norway is one of the countries in Europe with the best waterfalls, for height, for grandeur and beauty.
Apart from that, the use of hydroelectric power plants for the supply of energy in this country is historic, even becoming an exporter for countries in Europe. In recent years some countries in Scandinavia are experiencing a very low level of water in their reservoirs (I love the subject of renewable energy, and I am almost an economist, so I am always researching these issues).
