Letra
I close my eyes
Only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind
Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind (oh)
All we are is dust in the wind
Oh, oh, oh
Now, don't hang on
Nothing lasts forever, but the Earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind (all we are is dust in the wind)
Dust in the wind (everything is dust in the wind)
Everything is dust in the wind
The wind
The Singing Voice WEEK #45 / Dust in the Wind / Cover (English/Spanish)
A friendly greeting dear Hivers, this is my second post on the platform and the first in this great community. Actually I have already been here on other occasions but accompanying my dear @jetta.amaya, now I will be participating on my own since I was encouraged to join the hive. I confess I was quite nervous when I recorded the video, it's the first time I record myself alone playing, but I'm sure the nerves will pass the more I share with you.
The song I chose to rock this week is Dust in the Wind, a gem without a doubt. This gem of a song is originally from the American rock band Kansas. It was first released on the album "Point of Know Return" in 1977. Since then it has not stopped playing, passed from generation to generation and today after more than 40 years it is still recognized by young and old.
I knew it when I was about 14 years old, thanks to the cover made by the Spanish rock band Mago de Oz in their single "El que quiera entender que entienda" published in 2002. Of course this version is not the most loved, since the lyrics are totally different from the original. Although Mago de oz's version is quite beautiful, the original lyrics have a mystique and poetry that is unmatched. As a great part of the songs of that time it is deep and touches sensitivities making us reflect on our own existence, that is why it is the most popular and well known song of Kansas. Also in 2001 it was interpreted by the incredible German band Scorpions, here I know that many will agree with me when I say that if the song was already wonderful, for those who love Scorpions, it became much more in the beautiful voice of Klaus Meine.
For me it is very special, I always play it to warm up my fingers before a performance. As my partner and I usually play in community spaces, whenever someone hears the first few notes they are sure to start humming it, it's something magical, like a song breaks down transgenerational barriers. Anyway this is my humble interpretation of this great piece that transcended in the history of music, I hope you like it.
