Let's Play "OBILIVION_EVE" (PICO-8) - An Extremely Polished Platformer

OBILIVION_EVE is a rougelike action platformer for PICO-8. The game follows an unnamed protagonist in his quest to free the titan from the shifting prison's depth.

This game caught my attention as soon as I found it on PICO-8's menu, and I was impressed by the polish while playing it. The gameplay and animations are very smooth! There's a lot of visual variety, and the game control is complex despite having only two face buttons. (I like how the game tells you a controller is preferable.)

OBILIVION_EVE gameplay is compromised of platforming and fighting enemies. There are various weapons you could choose from, and Upgrades are scattered around the environment to change the power and speed of these weapons.

The main interesting mechanic of OBILIVION_EVE is the Combos and Meter system. Doing mutiple combos in row increases the Meter at the top-right of the screen, and

I played through the tutorial and the first few levels. You can watch me in this video trying to learn the game's mechanic. I'm glad I played this game.

PICO-8 is a Fantasy Console designed to create, share and play small retro-inspired games. Games made for PICO-8 are constrained in aethistics, code and size to encourage creativity. PICO-8 comes with a built-in code editor, graphics, and sound tools. Games are distributed in image files called Cartridges.
