5 BIGGEST TAKEAWAYS FROM THE TOWN HALL (2.9.22)

Every week I give my 5 biggest takeaways from the most recent Town Hall. This week was special though as there are so many exciting things coming so I have some extra!

• Waka Spiritblade & Imagine Dragons Partnerships

This is obviously the biggest news to come from the Town Hall. Major partnerships with world reknown artists is awesome and it helps Splinterlands infiltrate culture. I don't the effectiveness of converting new players, but in terms of brand awareness I think this gets the game in front of many eye balls! For the Waka Spiritblade card, this is a fantastic start to the promos that are being hinted at using vouchers.

• Quickmatch Tournaments

I had heard about these a couple of weeks ago but hadn't had a chance to catch them yet. Excited to see some innovation happening in the tournament space using bots to create consistent tournaments. It's desperately needed right now as the whole tournament outlook is getting an overhaul.

• Team Looking To See How DEC Shakes Out After Airdrop

This was more of a throwaway comment by Matt, but an important one in my opinion. I've been looking at DEC as something that will be adjusted in time for the end of the airdrop, but it seems that the team is very much ok with letting the market dictate the price and let the dust settle before they make any updates.

• Modern Format Hopefully Coming In Q1

As I've been saying all along, prepare for delays. We thought we'd be getting Modern Format back in December but now they are going to try for before Q1 is over. My money is on that not happening. Too much going on and it is going to be a major update. To be clear, I'm not calling the team out - it takes time to build amazing things. Just trying to level set expectations that every major release this year (RW/Land) will probably not happen in the time frame everyone is expecting.

• Different Loot Chests For Each League

Another throwaway comment by Matt, this one in reference to the upcoming rewards incentives updates. Right now every chest is the same across all leagues, although you do have a higher chance of winning packs in higher leagues. Sounds like we may be moving to a situation where the higher your league, the higher your chance of winning better rewards. Could be interesting and I'm all for it but I expect some pushback from the community.
