After spending a little time getting to know more about Defi Kingdoms, I've come to a very foundational conclusion between DK and Splinterlands. Aside from technical and stylistic differences, there is one fundamental difference in how these games were developed.
Splinterlands is a game, a proven concept with a core and growing player base, that is building defi elements around itself.
Defi Kingdoms is a decentralized finance platform - a great one at that - that has gamified defi and is building a P2E game around it.
Both games seem to be attacking problems from the opposite angles, and while they both have had some sort of success so far, it will be interesting to see how development down the road plays out.
This is not a knock on either project. Defi Kingdoms can very likely put together a solid P2E game on top of an already stellar defi platform. Splinterlands on the other hand, with its proven game concept, can continue to build defi elements around the core concept.
Very excited to see where these go as gaming take over crypto and the internet!
