The buddy that I had played Broforce, Tank Force and several arcade beat-em-ups before came back to play, and this time I ended up pulling out Kirby Super Star for the Super Nintendo, which with the introduction of Helpers (converting your ability into a enemy-turned-ally) and these being controllable by a second player (normally they are controlled by the CPU). One cool thing from this is that the Wheelie Biker helper lets you fire small but powerful stars if you are riding it while the second player is controlling it.

The Great Offensive's biggest incentive is behind finding all 60 treasures hidden on the big stages you have to play through, some being at plain sight, others needing you to explore a lot in certain places, some few where you have to trigger some bomb blocks to unlock the path but not ALL of them to avoid blocking it again by accident, and those few ones where you need a specific ability to be used in a certain way to get to the treasure. (That treasure on the castle with the Jet took me a long while until I remembered I could save the charge with L/R and use it midair to bypass the wind current)

While Helpers are stuck to one ability, they essentially won't lose it if damaged too much unless they lose all their health, at which point you can either use the "ability drop" button while having no ability to turn them into a hat you can eat to get their ability (...and make a helper out of that, again), or having the Helper touch another enemy or ability hat to take their ability; both cases them regaining full health. This allows the Helper player to be more reckless in a way similar to Sonic & Tails in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, as Tails is virtually inmortal and can attack bosses over and over without any big penalty (Helpers potentially being like this if you have no ability or if you can get a new one during a boss fight...but being more troublesome if you don't want to ditch your own one or can't copy abilities in a certain boss fight).

In the end, while we didn't go out of our way to find every single treasure (we found 17 out of 60), and this gameplay was somewhat silly in performance, but all in all, The Great Offensive was cleared, and the story where Kirby accidentally fell through a hole and landing in the huge subterranean world, ends with a happy ending with Kirby getting out of there and going back to munching enemies like popcorn :)
