Venezuela cuenta con varios autódromos, entre ellos se encuentra el Autódromo Internacional Pancho Pepe Cróquer, ubicado en Turagua, Estado Aragua. Se trata de una pista de carreras permanente ubicada en los valles del Estado Aragua, cerca de la ciudad de Maracay. En este video de #3Speak para #FullDeportes tenemos de nuevo contenido exclusivo dedicado a analizar este autódromo, desde el punto de vista técnico, tal cual lo hemos venido haciendo en este blog con los circuitos de Fórmula 1 que se han venido presentando.

El Autódromo de Turagua, en su trazado principal, cuenta con una longitud de 2350 metros y 10 curvas. Primeramente, analizaremos este autódromo desde el punto de vista de la Fórmula 1 ¿Sería un circuito rápido o trabado? ¿A qué pistas de la Fórmula 1 se asemeja?. Lo primero que podrías notar es que es muy corto para la Fórmula 1, en donde casi todas las pistas poseen más de 4 kilómetros de longitud.

Sin embargo, podemos poner a prueba este circuito calculando su Número de Curvas por Kilómetro, y comparándolo con otros circuitos de Fórmula 1 podremos obtener una caracterización general. Por otro lado, su trazado ya de por sí nos revela que las horquillas, curvas en "U", cerradas y lentas, están muy presentes.

Pero este trazado no termina allí. El Autódromo de Turagua posee trazados alternativos, que fueron construidos posteriores a su inauguración en 1972, los cuales sirvieron para extender la longitud del circuito hasta 3,80 Kilómetros y darle al autódromo la posibilidad de albergar competencias de mayor envergadura en los años 80' y 90'. Este trazado largo también es analizado en este video de #3Speak.

No obstante, como quizás habrás pensado, este trazado no está capacitado (por los momentos) para albergar carreras de Fórmula 1. Es decir, no posee una licencia de Grado 1 por parte de la FIA para permitir carreras de la máxima categoría. El Autódromo de Turagua es y ha sido sede de competiciones de categorías como la de Super Turismo GT y motociclismo profesional. De hecho, en los años 90' obtuvo una licencia por parte de la Federación Internacional de Motociclismo (FIM).

Para estas categorías, las cuales poseen prestaciones y velocidades muy distintas a las de un auto de Fórmula 1, la dinámica del trazado por supuesto es muy distinta, ya que el autódromo fue pensado para ellas y no para autos tan rápidos como los de la máxima categoría. El Autódromo de Turagua posee trazados muy interesantes, los cuales analizaremos en este video.

Algunas de las curvas de este trazado principal poseen también sus nombre. La "Curva de los Zamuros", una curva en "U" muy abierta, de velocidad media y muy técnica. La curva Félix Varona es la horquilla más cerrada del autódromo. La Curva Contrabano es otra horquilla casi tan cerrada como la anterior, sirve para situarse y salir a la siguiente recta. La Curva del Portón es la curva final del circuito, la cual es otra horquilla, de 180°, que sitúa a los autos en la recta principal.

A continuación, tenemos algunas de las alternativas que posee el trazado del Autódromo Internacional Pancho Pepe Cróquer de Turagua. El trazado largo destaca por su gran cantidad de horquillas y curvas, bastante trabado para estándares de la Fórmula 1. El trazado corto mide Kilómetro y medio.

En lo personal, mi trazado favorito es el "Trazado alternativo 1", ya que crea una primera curva muy interesante, y luego de esta, un sector también muy interesante similar al último sector de Baku, circuito de Fórmula 1 en Azerbaiján. El resto sería exactamente igual al trazado principal. Sería muy interesante ver carreras en esta configuración, quizás algún día se logre recuperar dicha zona para que vuelva a funcionar como en sus inicios.

Y finalmente, el "Trazado alternativo 2" también presenta una configuración llamativa, la cual sería casi igual que en el trazado principal pero utilizando una pequeña parte de la zona añadida en los años 80'.

The Turagua Autodrome is and has been the venue for competitions in categories such as Super Turismo GT and professional motorcycling. In fact, in the 1990s it obtained a license from the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM).

For these categories, which have performance and speeds very different from those of a Formula 1 car, the dynamics of the layout are of course very different, since the racetrack was designed for them and not for cars as fast as those of the top category. The Turagua racetrack has very interesting layouts, which we will analyze in this video.

Some of the curves of this main layout also have their own names. The "Curva de los Zamuros", a very open "U" curve, of medium speed and very technical. The Félix Varona curve is the tightest hairpin of the racetrack. The Contrabano Curve is another hairpin almost as tight as the previous one, it is used to position and exit to the next straight. The Curva del Portón is the final curve of the circuit, which is another hairpin, of 180°, that places the cars on the main straight.

Further up on the page, we have some of the alternatives that the layout of the Pancho Pepe Cróquer International Race Track in Turagua has to offer. The long layout stands out for its large number of hairpins and curves, quite tight by Formula 1 standards. The short track measures one and a half kilometers.

Personally, my favorite track is the "Alternative Track 1", as it creates a very interesting first corner, and after that, a very interesting sector similar to the last sector of Baku, a Formula 1 circuit in Azerbaijan. The rest would be exactly the same as the main layout. It would be very interesting to see races in this configuration, maybe someday it will be possible to recover this area to make it work again as in its beginnings.

And finally, the "Alternative layout 2" also presents a striking configuration, which would be almost the same as in the main layout but using a small part of the area added in the 80s.
