Desarrollando una visión de vida - 6a Parte

Today I share with you the sixth part of my series Writing a life purpose. It is a small testimony regarding the benefit of knowing and living according to our values.

I want to start by asking a couple of questions. What does the word congruence mean? How important is congruence in your family, work, or school? On a scale of one to ten, how congruent are you in your life? Take your time to analyze those questions. Here I share with you one of the ways in which the Cambridge Dictionary defines congruence: The quality of being similar to or in agreement with something. It goes without saying that this logical and coherent relationship must occur between at least two parties or parties or also between ideas or principles and actions.

I'm sure we've all experienced dilemmas in our lives. The results of certain dilemmas have less impact on our lives or the lives of others, however, there are others that have more weight. It is not the same to decide what t-shirts to wear today as deciding on the university major that we want to study. Deciding between eating tacos and hamburgers is not the same as deciding to denounce an injustice – if we witness it – or to remain silent if that means jeopardizing our job or a promotion, for example. The dilemma is, what to do when our personal values are confronted with antithetical values?

Hoy comparto con ustedes la sexta parte de mi serie Escribiendo un propósito de vida. Se trata de un pequeño testimonio en cuanto al beneficio de conocer y vivir de acuerdo a nuestros valores.

Quiero comenzar haciendo un par de preguntas. ¿Qué significa la palabra congruencia? ¿Qué importancia tiene la congruencia en nuestra familia, trabajo o escuela? En la escala del uno al diez, ¿qué tan congruente eres en tu vida? Toma tu tiempo para analizar esas preguntas. Aquí te comparto una de las formas en que la REA define la congruencia como la Conveniencia, coherencia y/o relación lógica. Se sobreentiende que esta relación lógica y coherente debe ocurrir entre mínimo dos partidos o partes o también entre las ideas o principio y las acciones.

Estoy seguro que todos hemos experimentado dilemas en nuestra vida. Los resultados de ciertos dilemas tienen menos impacto en nuestra vida o la vida de otros, sin embargo hay otros que tienen más peso. No es lo mismo decidir entre un un par de playeras para vestir el día de hoy que decidir la carrera universitaria que queremos estudiar. No es lo mismo decidir entre comer tacos y hamburguesas que decidir denunciar una injusticia - si somos testigos de ella - o callar si eso pone en peligro nuestro puesto de trabajo o una promoción, por ejemplo. El dilema es, ¿qué hacer cuando nuestros valores personales son confrontados con valores antitéticos?
