    ORINOQUIA BRIDGE, Bolivar, Ven. [ENG-ESP]

I had never set foot in the State of Bolivar, Venezuela. I would do it this time for the first time, and for an important reason. But the way I would get there was not what I expected. We would cross a large bridge, which would serve as a prelude to one of the largest states in Venezuela, whose surface area exceeds that of some countries in Europe. Crazy, isn't it? The state of Bolivar has more territory than Croatia, Portugal, among others? Well, back to the bridge. Today I'll show you some of the views we were able to get and don't miss the short video so you can live part of the experience. All images are mine, captured with my Samsung S860.

Traveling from north to south we were already approaching the famous Orinoco River. On the soil of the State of Anzoategui we were able to stop to see the plaque of this monumental real estate. We took the opportunity to leave a photographic record of this historical data and also of the view from there. The heat was intense. We could feel the humidity of the place, with the great river so close, whose smell seemed to me something similar to that of the sea. Maybe it's just me, and I'm wrong, but that's how I remember it. Also the area was somewhat inhospitable. I must admit that it didn't look like much from that distance. But as I got closer I could admire what this structure really was.

It was exciting to approach the bridge little by little. The road was still in good condition and we could look around and admire the scenery, not worrying about the holes and flaws of many of the national roads we had passed. The width of the river was impressive. And as we looked ahead, the towers over 100 meters high looked even more enormous. The suspenders were getting closer, and as you start to walk past them you feel protected, like armored on both sides. And the visual effect of going through those stays is captivating. Part of that you'll see in the video.

The towers seen from the front look like letters "H". I suddenly wanted to capture them in a totally symmetrical view, one inside the other, however it was impossible from one of the vehicle channels, or at least to the perfect degree that I wanted. I guess I had to stand inside the space intended for the railroad track. What? Yes, just as you read it. The design of this bridge contains a space in the middle for a train to cross. I guess this is not yet enabled. But it would be very exciting to have such an experience, as there are in other places. The same train crosses different beautiful and diverse places. It seems that we will not have this luxury for now.

I remember this time very well. The bright sun, the intense heat, the excitement for the event we were going to that same day at night, the people who were with me in the vehicle, the breeze on my face when I went out the top window to film the video that I show you and shoot the pictures that serve as a souvenir, with those firm hands and those fingers well attached to the camera so that the movement nor the breeze could take it away from me. I don't think I had done that either, to use that singular window in the vehicles that have it.

Getting to know the states and territories sometimes includes getting to know the flora, fauna, roads, foods, people, and we must not forget the infrastructure, buildings, facilities and real estate. Getting to know this one has been enriching and exciting.
