# 3Speak

> 3Speak (https://3speak.tv) is a YouTube alternative built on the Hive blockchain where both creators and viewers earn. Creators earn from community upvotes and get 50% of the ad revenue their videos bring in; viewers who opt in share 10% of ad revenue by watch time and earn curation rewards for upvoting. Every video is a Hive post the creator owns, and video files are stored on IPFS.

Rewards are paid in HIVE and HBD (Hive Backed Dollars), the native assets of the Hive blockchain. There is no subscriber or watch-hour threshold before a creator can earn. Log in with a Hive account through a Hive wallet such as Hive Keychain, HiveSigner or HiveAuth.

## Key facts

- Post rewards: for 7 days after publishing, community upvotes decide a video's share of the Hive reward pool, split between the creator and the curators who upvoted it.
- Ad revenue for creators: creators who turn ads on get 50% of the ad revenue their videos bring in, paid every 3 days in HBD or HIVE (whatever the advertiser paid with).
- Viewer rewards: viewers who opt in share 10% of ad revenue, split by watch time across videos they watched at least 75% of (up to 20 minutes counted per video, own videos excluded). Paid every 3 days. 3Speak Pro subscribers, who see no ads, earn it too.
- Curation rewards: viewers who upvote with Hive Power earn a share of the post rewards of the videos they upvote.
- Remixes: when someone remixes or clips a video, the original creator automatically receives at least 5% of the remix's rewards.
- Platform share: uploads carry a 10% beneficiary to @threespeakfund and 1% to @encoder.pay for encoding. 3Speak Pro subscribers skip the 10%.
- Ownership: videos are posts on the public Hive blockchain under the creator's own account and keys, and stay on chain even if a website hides them.
