    Poema tardío

    Para mi amorcito

    Un capítulo se cierra
del niño que iba a viajar
    para poderse casar
    por allá por Inglaterra

    No ansiaba princesa bella
    ni con monarquías el roce
    solo casarse a los doce
    aunque fuera con plebeya

    ¡Que no suene a indecencia!
Más la razón de su empeño
    era agilizar el sueño
    de procrear su descendencia

    Pero el tiempo lleva lejos
y el que fue niño creía
    que posible no sería
    tener hijos siendo viejo

    En momento inesperado
    por extraño que le suene
    se le apareció una Irene
    como enviada por recado

    Y albergó con gran cariño
    en su interior la semilla
    que se rasca la barbilla
y que va a nacer en niño

    La alegría llegó por fin
    y le quiero agradecer
    a la más linda mujer
    que es mi Irenita Marín

¡Vas para allá y para acá!
Así es la vida en la tierra
    Ya no será en Inglaterra
    pero voy a ser papá

    Late poem

    For my sweetheart

    A chapter closes
of the boy who was going to travel
    in order to get married
    over there in England

He did not long for a beautiful princess
nor monarchies to rub shoulders with
    only to marry at twelve
even if it was with a commoner

    Let it not sound indecent!
But the reason for his determination
was to speed up the dream
    of procreating his offspring

    But time carries far away
and he who was a child believed
that it would not be possible
to have children when he was old

    At an unexpected moment
    strange as it may sound
    an Irene appeared to him
as if sent on an errand

And she harbored with great affection
    within her the seed
    that scratches its chin
and that is going to be born in a boy

    Joy came at last
    and I want to thank
    the most beautiful woman
    who is my Irenita Marin

    You go here and there!
    That's life on earth
It won't be in England anymore
but I'm going to be a dad

Last January 30, my eldest son turned 25 years old. His arrival was something I had been looking forward to since I was a child and what he says in the poem is absolutely true. Somewhere I saw that, in those monarchy things in England, someone could get married at the age of 12 and I wanted to do that.

But it took a lot longer for me to experience parenthood. In fact, it came at a time when I thought it wasn't going to happen.

On October 6, 1997, I went with my wife for an echo and I could see my son, still inside, scratching his chin, as if he were an adult. That was so funny to me, and I was so moved by the pregnancy, that when I returned home that day, I wrote this poem.

As I have said on several occasions, for me poetry was an intimate act and so was this poem, until this moment when I decided to bring it to light and how well it has been preserved by my wife, @tiaene, for all these years.

Thanks to her for the wonderful gifts she has given me and for keeping this poem that I share with you today!
