I must confess that the only two songs that came to my mind, once I saw the theme of the week, "Colorful", proposed by our friend @mipiano, were "Color esperanza", which by the way my sister @helyorsini recorded for this event and "Según el color", a salsa by Rubeń Blades with Willie Colón (Click here if you want to listen to it). The latter would have been good for me because it is a salsa, but I didn't feel very comfortable with the tune, so I discarded it. And the first song I figured I would find its performers for this week, because of its fame and the proximity of the title to the theme of the week.

So I decided to let myself be carried away by other feelings and seeing the wonderful drawing that @cabelindsay did for this week, the crayons made me remember some skyscrapers and that led me to think of a city that I long to know and that for me represents many things, among which are the colors, multicultural encounters and salsa. A city where I hope very soon to have the opportunity to bring my music: New York.

New York, New York. Perhaps because of the same expectation that this city produces in me, I have always liked this song and I have sung it, always with much enthusiasm and encouragement. I heard it for the first time in the movie in which it was released in 1977, in the voice of Liza Minelli, for whom it was written by John Kander and Fred Ebb. However, neither the movie nor the song were very successful at the time. It was only three years later that it gained worldwide fame in the voice of Frank Sinatra.

This magnificent song is my colorful entry for the Hive Open Mic, week 105.

Debo confesar que las únicas dos canciones que me venían a la mente, una vez vi el tema de la semana, "Colorful", propuesta por nuestra amiga @mipiano, fueron "Color esperanza", la cual por cierto grabó para este evento mi hermana @helyorsini y "Según el color", salsa de Rubeń Blades con Willie Colón (Click aquí si quieres escucharla). Esta última me hubiera venido bien por tratarse de una salsa, pero no me sentí muy cómodo con el tema, así que lo descarté. Y la primera canción supuse que encontraría sus intérpretes para esta semana, por su fama y la cercanía del título con el tema de la semana.

Así que decidí dejarme llevar por otros sentimientos y viendo el maravilloso dibujo que hizo @cabelindsay para esta semana, los creyones me hicieron recordar unos rascacielos y eso me llevó a pensar en una ciudad que ansío conocer y que para mí representa muchísimas cosas, entre las cuales están los colores, los encuentros multiculturales y la salsa. Una ciudad en la que espero muy pronto tener la oportunidad de llevar mi música: Nueva York.

New York, New York. Quizá por la misma expectativa que me produce esa ciudad, esta canción siempre me ha gustado y la he cantado, siempre con mucho entusiasmo y ánimo.
