One of the people who has transcended the history of humanity is “Yeshua”. I am grateful for this opportunity to participate in the Hive Open Mic in Week #193 where we explore this topic chosen by the friend and recent featured artist of our community: @chidistickz. Today I share with you my trumpet interpretation of "The First Noel," a traditional English carol that tells the story of the Nativity of Jesus, celebrating his birth as "King of Israel" and "Son of God." The lyrics of the carol are full of joy and wonder, describing the angels announcing the birth of Jesus to the shepherds, the shepherds rushing to Bethlehem to see the newborn king and the gifts they bring him: gold, incense and myrrh. For a long time I was wondering what Noel meant, until I discovered that it was a word of French origin that means Christmas. The melody is simple and diatonic, and is characterized by short, repeated phrases. Its tonal harmony and constant rhythm create a festive and hopeful atmosphere, perfect for celebrating Christmas.
One of the most beautiful Christmas traditions is the construction of the manger. This is a representation of the birth of Jesus Christ and shows a scene of a stable or corral, with Mary, Joseph, the Baby Jesus, the shepherds, angels and animals. At home we are very creative and we have built it with different materials, wood, paper, cardboard and paint. There are always some sheep that don't stand up, and some characters that don't belong like a Smurf, a Darth Vader, and a Hot Wheels car that are part of the innocence of childhood. The construction of the manger is a reminder of God's condescension and the love he feels for his children. The son of God being born in a humble manger, a place that was commonly used to place the young of the flocks. The Christmas story is the most beautiful story in the world.
The first Nowell the angels did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night that was so deep
Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell
Born is the King of Israel!
They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the east beyond them far
And to the earth it gave great light
And so it continued both day and night
Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell
Born is the King of Israel!
And by the light of that same star
Three Wise men came from country far
To seek for a King was their intent
And to follow the star wherever it went
Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell
Born is the King of Israel!
This star drew nigh to the northwest
O'er Bethlehem it took its rest
And there it did both stop and stay
Right o'er the place where Jesus lay
Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell
Born is the King of Israel!
Then entered in those Wise men three
Fell reverently upon their knee
And offered there in His presence
Their gold and myrrh and frankincense
Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell
Born is the King of Israel!
Then let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our heavenly Lord
That hath made heaven and earth of naught
And with his blood mankind has bought
Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell
Born is the King of Israel!
