El Jazz es uno de los géneros con el cual siempre me he sentido identificado, algunos temas populares están entre mis favoritos, sobre todo algunos estándares del Jazz. Hoy les comparto mi interpretación con la trompeta de «The Nearness Of You», una canción compuesta por Hoagy Carmichael y Ned Washington en 1937. La versión más reciente por la cual siento más conexión es la de Norah Jones. La melodía fue hecha inicialmente para una adaptación cinematográfica de El sueño de una noche de verano, de William Shakespeare. Esta tiene una forma AABA, con un total de 32 compases. Tiene una cadencia al final I-VI7-II-V7 llamada Giro de Vuelta, muy característica del jazz, blues y música popular. La armonía es sofisticada y brinda oportunidades para la improvisación. La canción está en la tonalidad de fa mayor, pero el acorde I7 se usa con frecuencia, lo que le da a la canción una sensación ligeramente jazzística.

Jazz is one of the genres with which I have always felt identified, some popular songs are among my favorites, especially some Jazz standards. Today I'm sharing my trumpet rendition of "The Nearness Of You" a song composed by Hoagy Carmichael and Ned Washington in 1937. The most recent version I feel most connected to is Norah Jones'. The tune was originally made for a film adaptation of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. This is in AABA form, with a total of 32 bars. It has a cadence at the end I-VI7-II-V7 called Giro de Vuelta, very characteristic of jazz, blues and popular music. The harmony is sophisticated and provides opportunities for improvisation. The song is in the key of F major, but the I7 chord is used frequently, giving the song a slightly jazzy feel.
