Hive Open Mic Week 102 | Stand Up | Cover

Hello HiveOpen Mic, I'm gracing the stage this week with my new favourite song, Stand Up by Cynthia Erivo. When I saw the theme of the week, I thought this song to be just the perfect fit.

I heard this song in a movie biopic about American abolitionist, Harriet Tubman. She is known for spying, scouting and freeing enslaved people. Born a slave in Maryland, she was able to escape to the free town of Philadephia in the year 1849 and she made it her life's mission thereafter to steal and free slaves from Maryland.

Hola HiveOpen Mic, esta semana subiré al escenario con mi nueva canción favorita, Stand Up de Cynthia Erivo. Cuando vi el tema de la semana, pensé que esta canción encajaba perfectamente.

Escuché esta canción en una película biográfica sobre la abolicionista estadounidense, Harriet Tubman. Es conocida por espiar, explorar y liberar a personas esclavizadas. Nacida como esclava en Maryland, pudo escapar a la ciudad libre de Filadelfia en el año 1849 y, a partir de entonces, se convirtió en la misión de su vida: robar y liberar esclavos de Maryland.

It is said that she freed 70 slaves in her missions with the help of an anti-slavery network. She believed in God so much and according to her, she saw visions from God that led her to free slaves.

I adore Harriet Tubman since finding out about her and she's an inspiration to go for what you're led to do and to touch as many lives as you can.

Se dice que liberó a 70 esclavos en sus misiones con la ayuda de una red antiesclavista. Ella creía mucho en Dios y según ella, vio visiones de Dios que la llevaron a liberar a los esclavos.

Adoro a Harriet Tubman desde que me enteré de ella y es una inspiración para ir por lo que te llevan a hacer y tocar tantas vidas como puedas.

This song is one of the soundtracks of the movie about her and Cynthia Erivo who did the song also played the role of Harriet in the movie. It basically describes the live-action of Harriet's missions and you can tell how fearless she was on her missions from the lyrics.

I lost my voice singing this song and I'm shy posting myself struggling with my voice but I didn't want to miss this week. Enjoy my cracked vocals either way 😄 I'd do better next week, I promise.

Esta canción es una de las bandas sonoras de la película sobre ella y Cynthia Erivo, quien hizo la canción y también interpretó el papel de Harriet en la película. Básicamente describe la acción en vivo de las misiones de Harriet y puedes ver lo valiente que era en sus misiones por la letra.

Perdí la voz cantando esta canción y me da vergüenza publicarme luchando con mi voz, pero no quería perderme esta semana. Disfruta de mi voz rota de cualquier manera 😄 Lo haría mejor la semana que viene, lo prometo.
