Master Of Puppets is the second song from the album Master of Puppets by the American thrash metal band Metallica, composed by the members of the band, with lyrics that refer to drugs and how they can control the life of an addicted person. It is the longest song on the album, with a duration of 8:35 minutes. Throughout the whole song you can notice the long and complex instrumental sections. Between minutes 3:30 and 5:14 the rhythm of the song calms down, an effect that the band would repeat with songs like "To Live Is to Die" or "Suicide & Redemption". Since its release in 1986, it has been played more than 1,500 times live, making it his most performed song at concerts.VH1 rated "Master of Puppets" the third greatest heavy metal song of all time.The late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton noted that this was his favorite song from the band to date.
