    In this video, I discuss in details how to read and also interpret various well logs there is in oil and gas exploration.

    Well Logs Types

    • Self-potential(SP) log
    • Sonic log
    • Neutron log
    • Gamma Ray log
    • Density Log
    • Caliper log
    • Resistivity log

    These logs do have their specific functions and uses. The rules below helps in the interpretation of well logs:

    • A deflection to the left in the SP log shows the presence of a sandstone formation.

    • A deflection to the right in the SP log shows the presence of a shale formation.

    • A high reflection in the Resistivity log shows the presence of hydrocarbon in a formation.
