G-G#-A. A-A#-B. D-D#E. G-A-A#-B-C#-D-E-F#-G (min. 1:47 del video).

    Hi HIVE friends!
Today I want to continue the topic of improvisation on pentatonic scales that I raised in a past video. This time we will talk about "chromatism". Chromatics is a musical term that refers to the use of the intermediate notes of the scale or semitones. The chromaticism affects the melodic structure and gives rise to the so-called altered notes (flat, sharp), which are important as expressive effects.

I never received guitar lessons, I was self-taught from the beginning until today and many years ago when I was exploring "things" with the instrument, the chromatic steps began to attract my attention, by then I did not know the term, and I just started to test the sound by adding the intermediate notes between two tones of the pentatonic scale and later I began to add an extra note when the distance is one and a half tones, then in an attempt to take it to the extreme I began playing sequences such as D-D#-E. G-G#-A. A-A#-B. D-D#E. G-A-A#-B-C#-D-E-F#-G (min. 1:47 of the video).

At first it was a kind of experiment (obviously later I realized that this already existed) and I began to incorporate these types of patterns in any scale. This was coming "naturally" to me when I was improvising with my friends to the point that when it was my turn to improvise everyone knew what was coming (laughs).

I have always thought that a guitarist's own style is given, in part, by those things that he can play naturally. I hope serve something. Greetings to all; they are loved!
