The challenge that Splinterlands offers while playing and levelling up is very engaging and rewarding compared to the conventional games most of us are used to.

I have spent a lot of time on racing games like Real Racing 3 and CSR Racing that have no benefit other than the thrill of winning tournaments and earning cars as you level up and upgrade.

Splinterlands is attractive to me because it gives back some real monetary value for the time spent on the game. I may not like the nature of battling within the game but the math and thought that goes into the whole process covers up for it.

I am relishing the fact that I have managed to attain the goal of reaching Diamond ii while it lasts since there was an announcement that the game will change a bit with the introduction of collection power that caps a player’s level in the game. This is to bring more “fariness” to the game, according to the developers.

For instance, it seems that so far I have a CP of about 34000 points, which puts me at Silver II. So, I will keep earning daily rewards and season rewards for that level until I’m able to gain enough points to level up.

Part of the reason the change is being applied is to prevent ‘lower level’ monster players from earning rewards that are more suited to players who have invested more on the platform in monetary terms. At least that’s what I got from the comments on this post from Splinterlands: https://peakd.com/splinterlands/@splinterlands/new-reward-cards-and-collection-power-update

The flaw noted with this approach is the unfair ranking of those who have traded their gold cards for decks that allow them to be more competitive. This means that one can have more collection power by simply having better-foiled cards than another player with a similar cumulative manna cost.

So, What I can suggest is the inclusion of cumulative manna cost (similar cards owned being ignored) and average of all owned card levels in the formula. I think that will improve the capping of players to their respective levels if that is the goal of the developers, rather than the total "value".
