This post is in response to a challenge set me by @mipiano and is an improvised piano performance - which I will call Summer Breeze.
As far as I understand it, the challenge which started here aims to "bring more interaction, engagement, and quality music to hive" - through sharing music and writing about it - especially when there is a personal story or connection with that music.
And specifically - here's the post I'm responding to:

So - my reaction to Energy Flow by Ryuichi Sakamoto, peformed by @mipiano -
I think it's a lovely piece - and really well played. I enjoyed the contrasting sections from gentle and flowing passages, to the more staccato moments that I felt were like a dance. And then later it's a lot more melodic. Overall it made me feel happy and positive, as well as quite relaxed.
For my own music selection, in a break from my usual electronic stuff I also decided to play piano! This is an improvised piece that I created around a few chords and scales specifically for this challenge.
It's very personal because this is the style of improvisation that I often come up with when I sit down at the piano for my own enjoyment and am not attempting to compose or record a new track or to perform to anyone. It's just for me (and now for the first time I'm sharing it!).
For this performance I didn't even record MIDI data as I normally would do in case I want to go back and edit anything - it's completely free form as the mood took me - and therefore utterly personal. I even tried a couple more takes, but I felt thy became less interesting, so this is the very first take and I think has more feeling because of it!
And of course, to continue my own challenge to extend Summer, I recorded it with my kitchen sliding doors wide open to the sunshine and air outside and wearing yellow - and called it Summer Breeze!
If you are interested in why on earth I'm trying to extend summer you can find out more here! TLDR - summer in the UK this year was rubbish so I'm officially keeping it going!
The people I would like to invite to respond to this music and join the challenge are:
@quinnertronics - how could I not pick my fellow modular and electronic musician on hive!
@stevec - As well as being one of my favourite people on Hive, Steve plays guitar and is learning the drums!
@svetamubin - who've I've just discovered and has been sharing some great articles on the origins of different types of music.
I hope you all accept the challenge - and indeed anyone else reading this is welcome to join in too!
Here's the details of the challenge.... Create a post with:
-Your reaction to the music that was shared with you
-Your music selection and a related story
-Your invites of other HIVE members
-Link to the post you react to
-Tags to use: #spreadthevibes and #music
And folks you don't need to necessarily post your own music - it can be yours, someone elses, recorded or performed - it just has to be music that means something to you that you want to say something about.
More info from the post that started it: https://peakd.com/hive-193816/@edje/challenge-not-challenge-spread-the-vibes-or-with-music-and-stories
Hope you enjoy sharing music and stories about music everyone - I did and want to say a big thanks to @mipiano for setting me this challenge!
