Here is a guitar tutorial where I highlight one of my favourite licks!:)
This is a blues guitar lick as it used the blues scale (b5) and I have chose Dminor to be the scale! This lick can be used in any blues pentatonic key - have fun playing around with it!:)
I recommend to start slowly and build up using a click/metronome. I also should add that I like to palm mute this lick as it gives a cool tone. Make sure to really accent that up stroke on the high note!:)
I would say this is an intermediate lick as you need to know your way around fingering, however don't hold yourself back if a beginner. You can start off super slow and build up strength in your fingers this way (do not play through severe pain!)
If you are just starting out, I would recommend to just try the first part of this lick, without the string skipping and just work on legato. Something that I would recommend is playing to a click track (something I do not do enough!) as it does help your timing later in your playing life!
This is one of many lessons coming up. I will have 2 short lessons a week where I highlight some licks of mine, along with other insights to become the best player you can be - I am still on that journey of course!
Something a little different anyway - I hope you enjoyed! If you prefer my guitar solos, well don't worry as I have a BLUES solo coming later today!:) I think you will all enjoy it!:)
Thanks for listening everyone, let me know what you'd like to hear next?
