This is a song I have partly learned before, but I never played the whole song. The main riff is a killer as it uses big stretches and quick changes. Combined with my weakened right hand it was a real endurance test. I did a practice, but then needed a rest before going for a recording. How Andy Summers could play this and other tricky songs live is beyond me. At least it has the long chords on the chorus that give you a bit of a rest.
I found this lesson from the ever-reliable Marty. As with many songs it is a matter of learning a few parts that just get repeated. I did mess up a few bits and I was not quite sure what went on the instrumental in the middle. I gave up on the riff for some soloing at the end.
Backing track from here. They have good quality free tracks.
As ever I am playing my Benford custom Tele. I used a preset on my Zoom G3X with compressor and chorus. It does not actually use a modeled amplifier. It just runs straight into my M-Audio interface via a mixer. The mixer is there so I can record other things without changing cables around. It makes life simpler.
Rock on!
