When I was out running this morning an idea for a tune came to me. Influenced by the looping antics of @lk666 and the ambient jams of @sketch.and.jam I wanted to make some use of my Boss RC-1 looper.
I had to record a solo for a friend's video first. I hope that will be available fairly soon. Whilst I had things set up I could get on with this tune. It uses a fairly common descending chord sequence. I plucked it first and then tried using the volume pedal on my Zoom G3X to add some chord swell, but those are a bit quiet in the mix. Then I just noodled over it. There are a few duff notes, but you should have heard my earlier attempts (no, you do not want to). I added some swells on the lead part too for a while for variety.
I do have some outstanding technical issues to resolve with my setup. Sometimes my interface *M-Audio Fasttrak Pro) plays up and I get noise. Other times the video recording app (guvcview) goes wrong. One attempt came out with the video slightly slowed down. I do not want to give up using Ubuntu Studio, but there must be other video simple video apps that are more reliable. I am not sure if it is issues with the video codec. I just want to get on with the music really.
Anyway, I usually manage to record something and it is only some fun jamming. I am playing my Benford custom as usual.
By the way, @sketch.and.jam came up with #GibSunday as an excuse to break out the Gibson-style guitars once a week. We have #TeleTuesday and #Straturday, but there is a Fender bias with those. Any day is good for playing guitar.
Rock on!
