How are you? I hope very well, today I bring to you a nostalgic post, this is a list of five of my favorite games for the Nintendo NES, yes that legendary console that was part of the childhood and adolescence of many gamers, especially for those who are from the old school gaming like me. It is worth mentioning that as a child I didn't have the official version of this system, because it was already discontinued and more powerful consoles like the first PlayStation or the Nintendo 64 were already on the market, so my first console was actually a NES clone that my father bought me when I was about 8 or 9 years old. Well without further ado let's start with the list.

¿Cómo les va? Esperó que muy bien, hoy les traigo un post algo diferente, se trata de una lista con cinco de mis juegos favoritos para la Nintendo NES, si esa legendaria consola que formo parte de la infancia y adolescencia de millones de gamers, especialmente de los que pertenecemos a la vieja escuela. Cabe mencionar que de niño yo no tuve la versión oficial de este sistema, ya que durante esos años ya estaban en el mercado consolas más potentes como la primera PlayStation o la Nintendo 64. Bueno los títulos que les voy a comentar a continuación, los jugué en una NES clónica (mi primera consola) que me compro mi padre cuando yo tenía unos 8 o 9 años, así que con esto aclarado comencemos.

Double Dragon II: The Revenge

This was the first installment of the legendary Double Dragon series that I played, as many should know it is a Beat 'em up similar to games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Streets of Rage or Castle Crashers. Well, the game is divided into missions were you have to beat many enemies until facing the boss of each stage, its main characters have a few techniques and special moves. I have to say that I remember this game very fondly, for the many hours I spent playing it with my brother during my elementary school vacations, without a doubt it is a great classic.

La primera entrega de la legendaria saga Double Dragon que jugué, como muchos deben saber se trata de un Beat 'em up similar a juegos títulos como Las tortugas ninjas, Streets of Rage o Castle Crashers, dividido en 9 misiones en las que hay que avanzar agarrándose a trompadas, con muchos enemigos hasta enfrentar al jefe de turno. Los protagonistas de este yo contra el barrio (así se le conoce en español a este tipo de juegos) son los hermanos Billy y Jimmy Lee, estos personajes cuentan con varias técnicas y movimientos especiales. He de decir que recuerdo con mucho cariño este juego, por el montón de horas que pase jugándolo durante mis vacaciones escolares junto a mi hermano, sin lugar a dudas se trata de un gran clásico.

Super C

I'm sure many of you know the classic Contra series and if you don't, then shame on you as Gamers (calm down I'm just kidding 😆). It turns out that the second installment starring mercenaries Bill Rizer and Lance Bean is probably my favorite of the entire franchise, what I remember most about Super C are the imaginative designs of many of its enemies (especially the bosses), because they remind me a lot to the Xenomorphs from Alien and other monsters that I have seen in some horror movies, plus this was one of the first really difficult games I played in my life and that's something you never forget.

Estoy seguro de que muchos de ustedes conocen la clásica saga Contra y si no es así que vergüenza me dan como Gamers (cálmense que solo estoy bromeando 😆). Resulta que la segunda entrega protagonizada por los mercenarios Bill Rizer y Lance Bean probablemente sea mi favorita de toda la franquicia Contra, lo que más recuerdo de Super C son los imaginativos diseños de muchos de sus enemigos (especialmente los jefes), porque me recuerdan mucho al Xenomorfo de la saga de películas Alien y a otros monstruos que visto en otras películas de terror, además este fue uno de los primeros juegos realmente difíciles que jugué en mi vida y eso es algo que nunca se olvida.

Mitsume Ga Tooru

This is a classic 2D platformer that was released only in Japan, here you control a kid who reminds me to the character Ten Shin Han from Dragon Ball, because he also has a third eye on his face xD. Well this adventure has five levels quite varied with their respective final bosses, one of the aspects that seemed more interesting to me at the time, is that after defeating each enemy, you receive money with which you can buy new skills, lives and even recover energy in a store that appears in specific points of each stage. I think that despite its age is still an entertaining title, another curious thing I found out many years after playing it, is that the game is based on a manga and anime series.

Este es un clásico plataformas que se lanzo únicamente en Japón, en el que controlas a un niño que me recuerda al personaje Ten Shin Han de Dragon Ball, porque también tiene un tercer ojo xD. Bueno esta aventura está conformada por cinco niveles bastante variados con sus respectivos jefe finales, uno de los aspectos que pareció más interesante en su momento es que tras derrotar a cada enemigo, recibes dinero con el que puedes comprar nuevas habilidades, vidas y hasta recuperar energía en una tienda que encuentras en puntos específicos de cada fase, pienso que a pesar de su antigüedad sigue siendo un titulo entretenido, otro detalle es que después de muchos años de haberlo jugado, me entere que está basado en una serie de manga y anime.

Gun Nac

This classic vertical shooter captivated me as a kid for several reasons, the fact that you can use five different types of main weapons and four types of secondary bombs, impressed me a lot back in the day, because then I had played just a few games of this style and all were quite primitive in terms of gameplay mechanics, another interesting aspect about Gun Nac, is that the player has to collect money throughout each stage, to upgrade the weaponry of the spaceship after buying items in a store that appeared before starting each mission. In addition all the enemies of the game have very curious and imaginative designs, for me it is definitely a hidden gem in the NES catalog.

Este es un juego muy especial para mí, se trata de un clásico vertical shooter muy divertido que en su momento me cautivo mucho por varias razones, podías utilizar cinco diferentes tipos de armas principales y cuatro tipos de bombas secundarias, esto me impresiono mucho en esa poca, porque yo había jugado muy pocos juegos de este estilo y todos eran bastante primitos en cuanto mecánicas jugables, otro aspecto interesante de Gun Nac es que tenía que recolectar dinero a largo de cada fase, para mejorar el armamento de mi naves espacial a través de una tienda de objetos, que aparecía antes de comenzar cada misión. Además todos los enemigos del juego tienen unos diseños muy curiosos e imaginativos, para mi definitivamente es una gema oculta dentro del catalogo de la Nes.

Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu

Finally we have this tournament-style fighting game, similar in style to Super Smash Bros. Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu has a good roster of selectable characters that have different fighting styles, plus several game modes, including the story mode with cooperative up to two players or the all against all mode up to four players. At the time I found it very fun too play, because of the hilarious facial expressions that the characters made when they fighing. I also loved its frenetic combat system and its dynamic soundtrack, to me it is definitely one of the coolest games that I played on the NES.

Finalmente tenemos a este juego de lucha tipo torneo similar a Super Smash Bros, el cual cuenta con un gran número de personajes seleccionables que tienen diferentes estilos de pelea, además de varios modos de juego, entre ellos el modo historia con cooperativo de hasta dos jugadores o el modo todos contar todos de hasta cuatro jugadores. En su momento me pareció muy divertido por las graciosas expresiones faciales que hacían los personajes cuando luchaban, su frenético sistema de combate y por la dinámica banda sonora que te metía de lleno en los enfrentamientos, definitivamente se trata de uno de los juegos más geniales y divertidos que jugué de la NES.
