My opponent's use of Stone Onyx and Almo Cambio looked like a hefty frontline but I had a magic team so I wasn't too worried.
Unfortunately they did pair General Sloan with some wicked Life Splinter ranged monsters--Silvershield Sherff (4 ranged damage), Goblin Chariot (3 ranged damage), Pelacor Arbalest (3 ranged damage TWICE), and Mantoid (3 ranged damage).
My usual setup is Unicorn Mustang with Void to reduce incoming magic attacks, high melee to pressure the frontline but also high Speed to avoid melee and ranged. His Void is strengthened by my 2nd position Mushroom Seer's Silence ability which further lowers enemy magic.
After that I had Gloridax Magus due to the Divine Shield that everyone had, I'd need to undo more than one enemy's shield in order to save me from wasting an attack.
Mycelic Queen gives everyone 2 armor which is a good safe bet against melee and ranged attack.
Regal Peryton is kind of like Unicorn Mustang except they have the added evasion bonus of the flying ability and much higher Speed.
The other lynchpin of my strategy is Slipspawn's Taunt ability which I always hope to attract enough of opponent's attaccks so that the rest of my team can get in uninterrupted damage.
In round 1 and 2 my monsters made quick work of the hefty front two.
