Hive Open Mic Week 40 - Bandar Jakarta (cover) by Samuel and Frans

Hi, dear friends and family at Hive Open Mic Community. Introducing me, my name is Samuel Stifen a guitarist, and my friend Frans as a Vocalist. We both are an acoustic pop band called The People People. It's unbelievable, the weekly event #openmic has entered number 140. Every day we see great and talented musicians here. This proves that the Hive Open Mic weekly event is getting ahead of the curve.

So, this week's theme is “The Sea (Caribbean)”. This theme was chosen by @thelooter, a singer and guitarist in this community. I love the way he sings while playing his guitar. From this week's theme, the two of us performed a cover song entitled "Bandar Jakarta", in the English "City of Jakarta" written by Ismail Marzuki, he was a composer from Indonesia who was active from 1931 to 1958. In 1993, A female singer named Sundari Sukotjo popularized this song very well, so that the message of this song is conveyed to the ears of listeners.

The song, entitled Bandar Jakarta, is sung to the melodious strains of keroncong music, telling the story of the city of Jakarta. But, instead of telling about the splendor of the Metropolitan city. Rather, it tells about the other side of the city of Jakarta in the past. The beauty of the coast in the city of Jakarta, the wind that blows gently, fishing boats, and flying birds. The beauty of the coast which is protected by the thousand islands is outlined in a keroncong melody and is sung very beautifully. Here are the lyrics of the song:
