We use to say it Qanater but came to know its exact name as Al Qanatir Al Khayriyyah via google, city of Egypt. Most popular for the great delta barrages on river Nile.
It takes approx. 90 mins to reach there from Cairo by River boat, don't know about via road.
I have been there several times, it is all about boat trip and cycling at Qanater. It is low budget trip which everyone can afford. 1 EGP ticket of the boat and 5 EGP/hour for cycles.
Boarding on boat in the morning, takes a ride on River Nile. I have never seen a single tourist on that place other than us. It is full of locals. We utilize our way to Qanater by taking pictures, joking around, doing crazy stuff.
Once we are at Qanater, we rush for cycles to hire or if you may get late you wont get any. We roam around the city of Qanater and visit Delta Barrages.
There is nothing much to do at Qanater other than cycling for us. This is the great picnic place for locals. The same boat returns in evening. We have to spent last couple of hours near boat so we may not get left there by any reason, never take risks.
Now, the best time of this trip comes. It is locals dancing boat on Arabic songs. OMG! it is with so energy and passion. We were all clapping however, some of us making fun as well which is not a good thing: See this see that LOL.
We really enjoyed the trip, specially the belly and XYZ dance :).
