Growing up, I was called ***“lil song bird” ***because I would sing everything I wanted to say. LOL…
It got a bit annoying at times because I could never give a straight response without singing it. I would sing it so well, you just had to break into a smile.
I still do this sometimes even as an adult.
On the other hand, I realized I always had a burning desire to help people – Family, friends, and even strangers. I felt so bad when my loved ones or even strangers were in a bad situation.
It seemed as though I embodied all they went through even to the detriment of my own mental health sometimes.
But Hey, as long as the other person is Okay, I’m Okay!
I can rightly say my passion for music and helping others top the list.
I have grown to understand that being a helper and support system is a superpower and also a super-stressor.
I can’t lie.
However, as I get to be an excellent friend, family member and human being, a superb listener, and consistently showing up for people when they need my help, it could be draining sometimes.
I have learnt to manage it through music. I sing when I am happy, sad, in tears, elated, stressed, and feeling any type of way or going through situations with people.
Music is an escape that has helped me balance out helping people in turn.
