Ajuga Reptans is a Latin name for an herb commonly known as Bugle, or Bugleweed. Because of its ability to stem bleeding, the plant is also sometimes referred to as the Carpenter's Herb.
As most plants from the Mint family, Ajuga Reptans too is edible and despite not getting much spotlight among medicinal herbs, it’s reported to pack powerful health benefits.
In this video I go over the medicinal uses of the Ajuga plant, and describe how to identify this inconspicuous, but helpful herb.
Because my area is going through severe drought with now being the third month without rain, the spring pollen from the trees is still on all vegetation. Normally, this is washes off by falling rain, but whereas we haven’t had any, closeup images of the plant reveal how these tiny hair-like structures remain stuck to it, as is the greenish powdery substance on the leaves.
My palm camera has ongoing issues with the focus, so in order to force it to focus on the plant, I put my hand behind it. Otherwise it will focus on the background and the primary elements are blurred.
I think it’s a shame that such a powerful medicinal herb as Ajuga Reptans gets so little coverage and appreciation.
Another edible and medicinal plant from the Mint family which I recently did a video about is Ground Ivy (Glechoma Hederacea):
