Above is a short clip of today's protest at Alausa Ikeja.
This is my very first protest. Asides the esthetics of being in a vibrant crowd I did feel part of something for once. Leaving the comfort of my house today to March with fellow young Nigerians against brutality was a worth course. I had it at the back of my mind that I might end up in the back of a police van or even get shot at, which never happened thankfully.
Personally, I have never been harrased by the police. However, it would insentiive to dismiss the complaints of the people who have. This is a real strrugle. I have never felt secured by the police. In fact, the average nigerians fears the police. They are the real thieves.
It is quite unfortunate that many are making light these protests that are brewing across the nation. Something huge is about to happen and I am glad to be part of it and lending my voice.
