Why should I learn it?/¿Por qué debo aprenderlo?

It is a tactical issue of great importance - pleasant for the attacker! - and it intervenes very often in the combinations to win material: the uncovered attack.
In its simplest form it is reduced to the movement of a piece that makes way for another of its own (uncover). Once this type of attack is developed it is difficult for the opponent to defend himself.

Es un tema táctico de gran importancia ¡agradable para el atacante! y que interviene con mucha frecuencia en las combinaciones para ganar material: el ataque a la descubierta.
En su forma más simple se reduce al movimiento de una pieza que abre paso a otra propia (descubre). Una vez que se desarrolla este tipo de ataque difícilmente el adversario puede defenderse.

El caballo blanco avanzó desde b5 al posicionarse en c7 crea una gran amenaza ya que al moverse forma un jaque al Rey ya que deja a la Dama en a5 al descubierto y el caballo ataca a la Torre de a8 y a la Dama en d5, esta es la situación casi habitual cuando se lleva a cabo este tipo de ataque, aquí no hay manera de que las piezas negras detengan tan brutal ataque.
