In the video above I try to play the famous and famous trumpet solo that introduces the incomparable work of the 5th symphony of our beloved Gustav Mahler, this solo has a slight complexity of sound and articulation in the trumpet very subtle and at the same time rustic.

A few months ago I could do this solo without mistake, now I want to return to academic music little by little, with God's favor. I wanted to mention that Mahler's fifth installment is one of my favorites, but the one that captured my heart is the one called Titan Symphony.

Although I give its merits to the fifth symphony, its beginning replicating funeral marches, announcing with drums that death is coming, is something incredible, something similar I feel when I listen to the third movement of the first symphony.

The "Symphony No. 5 in C sharp minor" was begun in 1901, after a serious illness. On the night between February 24 and 25 he nearly died of a severe intestinal hemorrhage. During his convalescence he made the outline of the first movements.

The following summer when he returns to his place of composition in Maiernigg at the end of June he has started a new life. He is not alone, he is accompanied by his radiant wife Alma, who replaces her sister Justine as housekeeper.

Alma is also able to help her husband in his musical side, as she has extensive knowledge of music. She will be in charge of copying the score of the new symphony.

There she will compose the famous adagietto and the final movement. On August 24 he finishes the score, performing it at the piano in his Häuschen for his beloved wife Alma. Mahler will correct his work, not finishing it until the autumn of 1903. ...source
