The Lost Canvas - Anime Review [ES - EN sub]

Hace días decidí ver el film "Knights of the Zodiac" y fue una de las peores experiencias que he tenido viendo un film, esto fue más que nada por los inexplicables cambios realizados en la historia original solamente para que todo encaje en un film de dos horas de duración; eso me hizo constatar que llevar al cine una historia tan extensa como "Saint Seiya" posiblemente sea una tarea imposible de realizar y justamente esa experiencia me hizo pensar en por fin darle oportunidad a otras producciones, a varios Spin-offs de esta gran historia que han existido desde hace un buen tiempo y enfocándome primero en uno de los animes, quise ver la historia que a pesar de no ser considerada como canon, es una precuela de la historia protagonizada por Seiya y los demás.

A few days ago I decided to see the film "Knights of the Zodiac" and it was one of the worst experiences I've had watching a film, this was mostly because of the inexplicable changes made to the original story just to fit everything in a two hours long film; That made me realize that bringing to the cinema a story as extensive as "Saint Seiya " is possibly an impossible task to accomplish and just that experience made me think about finally giving a chance to other productions, to several spin-offs of this great story that have existed for a long time and focusing first on one of the anime, I wanted to see the story that despite not being considered as canon, is a prequel to the story starring Seiya and the others.

"Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas" es un anime que se estrenó en Japón en el 2009 y del cual (por los momentos) cuenta con tan solo 26 episodios divididos en dos temporadas; está historia esta basada en la Guerra Santa que ocurrió 250 años antes de los sucesos en Saint Seiya y en la cual tiene como protagonistas principales a tres personajes los cuales son la reencarnación de la Diosa Atenea, la reencarnación del Dios del Inframundo, Hades y el gran protector de la diosa protectora de la tierra, me refiero al Caballero de Pegaso que en esta ocasión es conocido como "Tenma"; estos tres personajes están muy unidos, tanto que se consideran como hermanos y es que a pesar de ser seres poderosos, dos dioses y uno que desafía su poder, el destino siempre hará un papel importante en la manera de como se llevará a cabo otra guerra santa.

"Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas" is an anime that premiered in Japan in 2009 and which (for the moment) has only 26 episodes divided into two seasons; This story is based on the Holy War that occurred 250 years before the events in Saint Seiya and which has as main protagonists three characters which are the reincarnation of the Goddess Athena, the reincarnation of the God of the Underworld, Hades and the great protector of the goddess protector of the earth, I mean the Knight of Pegasus that this time is known as "Tenma"; These three characters are very close, so much so that they are considered as brothers and despite being powerful beings, two gods and one who defies their power, fate will always play an important role in the way another holy war will take place.

Han transcurrido 12 años desde el estreno del último episodio de este anime, que solo abarca un poco menos de la mitad de toda la historia; la decisión de Masami Kurumada al no renovar los derechos con TMS Entertainment, hizo que no existiera ninguna posibilidad de finiquitar esta producción en ese formato y no tengo muchas esperanzas que eso suceda porque en muchos años se han estrenado otros animes bajo la producción del estudio "Toei Animation", casa principal de "Saint Seiya". Disfrute mucho de los episodios de este anime y eso me hizo pensar en ver no solo los otros spin-offs (en anime) basados en esta épica historia, sino hasta leer los mangas; todo con la necesidad primeramente de quitarme el mal sabor de boca que me quedo al ver la última película basada en estas batallas de dioses y santos, sino con la eterna esperanza de que en algún momento decidan terminarla con el estreno de la esperada Saga del Cielo.

It has been 12 years since the premiere of the last episode of this anime, which only covers a little less than half of the whole story; Masami Kurumada's decision of not renewing the rights with TMS Entertainment, made that there was no possibility of finishing this production in that format and I don't have much hope for that to happen because in many years other anime have been released under the production of the studio "Toei Animation", main house of "Saint Seiya". I enjoyed a lot the episodes of this anime and that made me think about watching not only the other spin-offs (in anime) based on this epic story, but even read the manga; all with the need first of all to get rid of the bad taste in my mouth after watching the last movie based on these battles of gods and saints, but with the eternal hope that at some point they decide to finish it with the release of the awaited Saga of Heaven.
